In the process of writing this guide, I’ve heard several (often urgent) requests from developers and enthusiasts: “What can we do to promote our cryptocurrency project?” There’s so many problems with marketing a cryptocurrency project: Attracting new users is tough, and even more so when you’re not a recognized brand.

This is due to the nature of the cryptocurrencies themselves – cryptocurrencies are a little too new to be deemed as “common knowledge.” Moreover, a cryptocurrency startup in general doesn’t have the power or the budget to sponsor marketing campaigns for their project.

How to identify your target audience

To understand how to successfully market your cryptocurrency project, you need to first understand who your target audience is.

That way, you can build an effective marketing strategy that doesn’t ignore the needs of your customers. After all, if you don’t have an idea of who your audience is, it’s very hard to find ways to market your cryptocurrency project.

Here’s how you can do it. Use the following list as a starting point.

Do your own research on the demographics of your prospective users and write down their demographic information. You can use online surveys or companies like usifyr who will do it for you.

If you choose to conduct your own research, you should include some of the following: Who are the people who would make use of your cryptocurrency?

The importance of the social media channels

It is extremely difficult to run a successful cryptocurrency project if you have only one major marketing channel. If you are looking for tips on marketing your project, chances are you are looking for ideas on how to effectively promote your project on social media.

You should start out by getting a small audience on one platform. Try a very simple platform (such as Twitter or Reddit) and follow the simplest of rules.

You can use a simple template to get people engaged. All you need is a good logo. Just something you can get a image of that has your project name at the bottom. Y

our topic of choice is your most valuable asset, so keep it simple. Be nice to your community members and keep your answers short and to the point.

Focusing on influencers

What is an influencer, you may ask? If you are in business, you’ve probably heard of him: these are the people that the rest of the market follow. By building a strong influencer network, you get access to these people and they help you out. As a leader of a cryptocurrency project, you have all this power – so use it to get more attention.

The power of email lists Let’s face it: we have the biggest marketing tool right at our fingertips: the free and unlimited email list. You can invite anyone to follow your project, and at the same time get a huge amount of free traffic. The goal is to drive the traffic to your site, and from there, to other pieces of your project.

Once you start working with influencers, you can also include them in email marketing campaigns.

Growth hacking for startups

If you are an entrepreneur that just launched your project and now you are looking for ways to reach the right audience, then you need to understand how to grow your user base. For example, a while ago I was considering the idea of starting a cryptocurrency project and I had one of the biggest ICOs, 8,000+ investors. We successfully launched in August 2021.

So, at that time, a big ICO is a big deal. People worldwide got interested in cryptocurrencies and the ICO gave an opportunity for people to fund your project.
